Location, Parking & Transportation

Location: The Halstead School of Portrait and Figure Art is at 1316 Sherman Avenue #216 in Evanston. (Note: Southbound Sherman Ave takes a jog at Lake St and continues just west of the CTA tracks. Getting into the building: The building entrance is open during normal business hours 8am – 5pm Monday – Friday and Saturdays during classes. If you would like to visit during non-class hours, please contact Richard at 847.869.6560.

Parking: The area is a busy shopping district with plentiful metered parking most days. There are neighborhood streets with non-metered non-resident parking limited to 2 hours. 

Public Transportation: The Purple line’s Demspter “L” stop is one short block away and the Davis Street Metra stop is about 5 blocks away.  Plan your route on public transportation with the RTA Trip Planner.

Located in the trendy Chicago – Dempster commercial area, the studio is steps from the cozy Bagel Art coffee shop, a range of dining options, and specialty shops like the funky Mexican Shop. The location is also a few short blocks from the heart of Evanston’s downtown dining and shopping district, including more coffeehouses, restaurants, bookstores, cinemas, and retailers of all kinds, including Blick’s Art Materials.
