Location, Parking & Transportation

Location: The Halstead School of Portrait and Figure Art is now located at 1563 Sherman Avenue in Evanston (on the second floor). To reach the studio, call 847.869.6560, or email us at Richard@HalsteadPortraits.com.

Getting into the building: The street entrance is opened one hour prior to the start of each class and remains open throughout the class. If you would like to visit during non-class hours, please contact Richard at 847-869-6560 or (cell) 224-629-7203 or Laura at (cell) 847-507-3297.

Parking: Directly across the street you will find the Rotary Building Parking Garage (enter off of Grove just west of Sherman) where 4 hours of parking costs $4 and all-day parking costs $8. Street metered-parking abounds but is limited to two hours in some areas (check your meter!).  Just 2 blocks away on Maple Street between Grove and Lake all-day parking can sometimes be found, but check parking signs for restrictions. From April 1 until November 1 parking is prohibited on street cleaning days. Likewise, from November 1 until April 1, parking may be prohibited when snowfall exceeds 2″ (an emergency siren should sound in the morning to let everyone know that this parking prohibition is in effect).

Public Transportation: The Purple line’s Davis “L” stop and the Davis Street Metra stop are both 2 blocks away.  Plan your route on public transportation with the RTA Trip Planner.

Located in the heart of Evanston’s downtown dining and shopping district, the studio is steps from coffeehouses, restaurants, bookstores, cinemas, and retailers of all kinds, including Blick’s Art Materials.
